Resident Evil 5 Review

I have noticed extremely varied opinions on this game. Basically, all the long-time, hardcore fans of the Resident Evil series do not enjoy this game nearly as much as the people who are new to the experience. This is the first RE game I have played, and to be honest I really enjoyed it. However, there are several things that could have been propped up.

Graphics.

The graphics in RE5 are beautiful. Probably some of the best we've seen. Look at a screenshot and see for yourself.

Score - 10/10

Gameplay.

Here's where mainly different opinions come in. Here's mine: For one, I did not pick up this game and start mowing Majini (the zombies) down. It actually took me two levels before I got the controls and maneuvers down. Once they were down, I had no problem. But one fact that I did not like about it was the fact that you cannot aim, fire OR reload without completely stopping your character from moving. The grenades are also somewhat difficult to throw in the right places. On the other hand, these annoying inconveniences actually give the game a realistic feel.

Score - 8/10

Story

If you have never played an RE game before (like me), you may wonder what's going on when the game starts. You are literally driving down an African road with nothing in mind of what you are supposed to be doing. Turns out, the game never shows much of a storyline until Chapter 2, where it heats up a little bit. Okay, this IS just a game but there are several parts where the game outdoes itself. Such as *SPOILER ALERT* when a guy you are chasing named Irving gives himself a shot and turns himself into an Octopus. Are you kidding me? It was still fun shooting him while he was that uvula thing or whatever....

Another thing I want to include in this section is: Wasn't this supposed to be a Survival-Horror game? Cause It really wasn't scary.

Score - 6.5/10

Sound.

Nows the part where I think of something to say about the sounds. Well, the music was good, the explosions sounded realistic, and the guns sounded perfect. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because the music when the zombies come at you doesn't stop once you have beaten them all, which made me waste a minute looking for more. Call me unfair.

Score - 9/10

Replayability.

This area gets a perfect 10. Hidden treasures, BSAA emblems hid cleverly throughout levels, modifications to guns, and yes, even ACTION FIGURES. Also, you can replay the game cooperatively with a friend. Major bonus points here.

Score - 10/10

Coop Mode.

The Coop works really well. Not many flaws, great system. So yes, it's worth it to buy another controller.

Score 9.5/10

Overall.

Resident Evil 5 is a great game. I really enjoyed it, and hopefully this review helps you in making your decision.

Score 9/10

NOTE: I have yet to try out the relatively new versus mode. Look out for a revised edition of this review with the multiplayer review section included.

Testing...

Hello World! and welcome to my new blog! I've always wanted to start one of these things up (even though there are thousands similar, but this one has MY opinion!), so here it is. For anyone who wishes to contact me directly, hit me up with an email and I can answer your questions or whatever.

I will try to be unbiased and give you reviews exemplifying all the ups and downs for whatever game I reviewing. But even if you disagree with me, leave a comment and we can talk.

I'm going to post a somewhat detailed review of Resident Evil 5 for my next post. Should be done by tomorrow. Until then, Peace.
